Upward is a uniquely designed total sports experience that adapts and expands as players grow in their personal athletic journeys. The Upward program develops total athletes mentally, athletically, spiritually and socially - producing players who excel both on and off the field.

Through Upwards we pride ourselves on creating a semi-competitive environment for play that is developmentally appropriate, challenging and conducive to learning. Through the program, coaches teach the skills and concepts of the game, but most importantly, promote the discovery of Jesus. Our Bible curriculum includes several memory verses per season that teach us important Biblical virtues.

2019 - 2020 Seasons

  • Fall 2019: Soccer
  • Winter 2020: Basketball
  • Spring 2020: Soccer

UPWARD SOCCER

Registration Opens JULY 15

Our Upward Soccer program (pre-Kindergarten - 4th grade) is designed to introduce young athletes to the game at an early age and help build the foundation to excel at the next level. Our vision is to see Upward Soccer players develop mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially, into total athletes who excel both on and off the field.

Teams are split into developmentally appropriate age groupings and teams are made as equally as possible based on ages, accommodations, and our league evaluations. We are very intentional about this process, we want every child to be appropriately challenged, feel as if they are in a safe place to learn and grow, and be given the opportunity to be as successful as possible.

Teams are coached by volunteer parents, supported and guided by Recreation Ministry staff. If you are interested in volunteering to coach your child’s team, read our information on coaching (link).

Pre-K/ Kindergarten will be played indoors. The Pre-K division will be a 30/30 format where each Saturday the teams will have a 30-minute practice, followed by a 30-minute game. Kindergarten will be a traditional format where practice will be held one evening per week for an hour and games will be held on Saturday mornings.

UPWARD BASKETBALL

Our Upward Basketball League (pre-Kindergarten – 6th grade) offers opportunity for character-building, player development, and the formation of deep relationships between teammates and coaches. Our desire is for players to develop a love for basketball with a healthy competitive spirit, and discover skills necessary to succeed both on and off the court. The game format and rules are designed to teach the game at an age specific level that grows with each young athlete.

Teams are coed and split into developmentally appropriate age groupings. Teams are made as equally as possible based on ages, accommodations, and our league evaluations. We are very intentional about this process, we want every child to be appropriately challenged, feel as if they are in a safe place to learn and grow, and be given the opportunity to be as successful as possible.

Our Adult sports programs were created around the idea that sports and fitness are a great place to connect with others, build Christ centered relationships, and challenge ourselves in ways we may not typically be challenged. There is something about sports and fitness that unites us, creating bonds with the people around us. We connect through the grind of the last mile, the challenge we must overcome, the victories, and defeats, the time we spend together, and the memories we share. Join us for Adult sports and get connected!

ADULT FLAG FOOTBALL

Next season is September 8 – October 13

Registration will open June 15

United Flag Football is a league designed around seven-on-seven college level intramural flag football rules. Games are led by a TASO-certified official and supported by two of our church interns on the sidelines. Each game begins with a prayer/devotional time.

During the season you will play games against opponents vying for a spot in a top four seeded playoff bracket on your way to be the league champ! In this league we play for pride not prize, and at the end of the day it’s all about an opportunity to get in some fitness, let your competitive side out a little, get to know some other people in the area, and have fun!

You can register as a team, or you can sign up for free agency and we can get you connected. Come play!

It can be easy to feel disconnected from God’s Creation — both other people and nature. Let’s escape the daily grind, the emails, phone calls, paperwork and traffic. Let’s go on an adventure, hike a trail, cast a fly into a stream, row a boat on a glassy lake, shoot a bow, or ski a freshly powdered mountain. Let’s head to the great outdoors – God’s Creation – where we may be able to disconnect enough from the grind and reconnect with Him.
