Teaching Through Stories

As a church, we make vows to love and to serve as examples for your children and to show them where they fit into God’s story. We tell your children a lot of stories.

We tell them about Noah and the Ark, Daniel in the Lion’s Den, David and Goliath, and more — stories about how God is faithful to those who follow Him.

As your children grow older with us, we show them how their stories are no different — that He has a plan for their lives too and that, by following Him, they can experience God’s faithfulness in their own lives.

Children are precious to us at The Woodlands United Methodist Church. We strive to make our Noah’s Nook Nursery fun and stimulating for even the youngest child coming through our door. While we realize it can be difficult to leave your child in the care of others, we want to assure you that our staff has a genuine love for the work they do.

Our Nursery is staffed by paid, experienced workers who are trained in the areas of child care, child development, safety and sanitation and certified by the American Red Cross in CPR and First Aid.

We offer a loving, Christian atmosphere. All of our rooms are safe, fun and filled with age-appropriate toys, games and books.

Our main program includes dozens of weekly volunteers to help to support a small group of children. A core Early Childhood staff and interns help to organize, prepare and set up lessons and activities each week. Jonah’s Island is the large group room where praise and worship and the Bible lesson are presented. Trained adult volunteers commit to overseeing a small group of children in designated aged specific classrooms. For 3 and 4-year-olds (by September 1), and transition and kindergarten students.

Our main campus 1st – 4th grade Sunday School program is designed to encourage and nurture the spiritual understanding and growth of our elementary-aged children. Children are welcomed by the friendly faces of staff ministry leaders, adult volunteers and teenage interns to join us in building friendships, enjoying fellowship, singing praise and discovering Bible truths.

5th grade Sunday school is an important step toward Confirmation readiness. Throughout the school year, students journey through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation connecting the genealogy path from Adam and Eve to Jesus. Classes are offered on Sunday mornings at either 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. We start our morning with praise and worship in the 56 classroom followed by large and small group teaching. Students develop a biblical foundation enabling them to better understand the Bible and their Christian faith. Along with the weekly classes, students are encouraged to attend worship services and participate in service projects within our church and community.
