We want to reach and teach your children in such a way that they have the greatest opportunity to become devoted followers of Jesus. In Children’s Sunday School, your kids will worship, learn and have fun at their own level.

Volunteers are the backbone of Children’s Ministry at The Woodlands Methodist Church. All of our volunteers go through a background check and a training process. We encourage our families to partner with us so that we are able to assist you in developing your child’s spiritual formation.

Children are precious to us at The Woodlands Methodist Church. We strive to make our Noah’s Nook Nursery fun and stimulating for even the youngest child coming through our door. While we realize it can be difficult to leave your child in the care of others, we want to assure you that our staff has a genuine love for the work they do.

Our Nursery is staffed by paid, experienced workers who are trained in the areas of child care, child development, safety and sanitation and certified by the American Heart Association in CPR and First Aid.

We offer a loving, Christian atmosphere. All of our rooms are safe, fun and filled with age-appropriate toys, games and books.

Our main program includes dozens of weekly volunteers to help support a small group of children. A core Early Childhood staff and interns help to organize, prepare and set up lessons and activities each week. Our young children participate in large group praise and worship where they sing songs and hear about Jesus. Volunteers oversee small groups in age specific classrooms in order to focus on the biblical truths that our children are learning. Children in our Sunday school program must be 3 years old by September 1 of the current school year.

If you have any questions, please contact Shana Duerr, Associate Director of Early Childhood Ministry.

Our 1st – 4th grade Sunday School program is designed to encourage and nurture the spiritual understanding and growth of our elementary-aged children. Children are welcomed by the friendly faces of staff ministry leaders, adult volunteers and teenage interns to join us in building friendships, enjoying fellowship, singing praise and discovering biblical truths. Each year, our 3rd graders participate in Bible Sunday where they receive their own Bible during the Traditional worship service.

If you have any questions, please contact Ingrid Gibbons, Associate Director of Elementary Ministry.

Sunday School

56 Sunday school is an important step toward Confirmation readiness. Classes are offered on Sunday mornings at either 9:30 or 11:15 a.m. We start our morning with praise and worship in the 56 classroom followed by large and small group teaching. Our goal in 56 Sunday school is for students to develop a biblical foundation enabling them to better understand the Bible and to gain practical knowledge they can apply in their everyday life.

Roots

Roots is our mid-week Bible study for 5th and 6th grade students. We meet from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays during the school year. Wednesday evenings are a smaller crowd and the students have time to interact with each other on a more personal level. It is always a fun night!

Hangouts

Throughout the year we have Hangouts for our 5th and 6th grade students. Hangouts are all about fun! They are high energy events that allow students to fellowship with each other while having a great time.

If you have any questions, please contact Autumn Lewis, Associate Director of Intermediate Ministry.

Confirmation is a big step in your child’s personal faith journey, preparing him or her for a life of discipleship and Christian service. Our Confirmation program prepares your 6th grader to claim the Christian faith as his or her own. We typically have around 220 confirmands each year and celebrate 60 baptisms.

The Confirmation journey follows the school year calendar beginning in August and ending in May. Classes meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30 or 11:15 a.m. at the Family Life Center on The Woodlands Campus and 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. in the Gymnasium at The Woodforest Campus. Within a small group, your student will develop a spiritual foundation while building valuable relationships with the other students and the adult leaders of their group.

In addition to weekly classes, your student will participate in service projects within the church and our community, as well as have the opportunity to attend both a fall and spring retreat which includes parents.
