Back to School Shopping

(At-Risk Children) - The Woodlands Campus/Offsite

Total number of volunteers needed: 15

Shop for school clothing items for at-risk local children attending schools in our community.

For over 25 years, The Woodlands Methodist Church has been providing back to school clothing for the most vulnerable children in our area. This mission serves kindergarten through high school children identified by school counselors. Volunteers shop for clothing and deliver the purchased items to the appropriate school ($150 per elementary student and $200 for Jr/Sr Hi students).

Shoppers will purchase the clothing items and then be reimbursed for all purchases through the Back-to-School fund.

Breakfast in the Park

(Homeless Ministry) - The Woodlands Campus|Offsite

  • Serve time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Total number of volunteers needed: 20 to prepare food and 10 to serve

Prepare and provide breakfast items that will be served to the homeless at a park in Conroe.

Compassion United is a ministry that provides outreach, relief and empowerment in the lives of the poor, homeless, addicted and outcasts in Montgomery County. Breakfast in the Park is an outreach event hosted by Compassion United. Learn more at compassionunited.us.

For those providing food:

        8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - drop off food under covered drive on west side of The Woodlands Campus – Loft building**

**If coming from Woodforest, you may bring your food directly to the park to drop off at 9:00 a.m.

For those serving:

        9:00 a.m. - go directly to Lewis Park located at 501 Park Place, Conroe 77301

Christmas Miracles Grocery Bag Activity

(At-Risk Children) - The Woodlands

Decorate bags for groceries that will be collected for families participating in our Christmas Miracles program.

Christmas Miracles is a seasonal ministry offered through The Woodlands Methodist Church which offers joy and hope through the distribution of Christmas gifts for at-risk children and senior adults in and around our community.

Community Food Drive

(Caring for the Hungry) – The Woodlands Campus|Onsite

  • Serve Time: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Total number of volunteers needed: 5

Receive food donations at the church.

Food Drive items will be delivered to the Interfaith Food Pantry.

Details:

• 8:30 a.m. – arrive at The Woodlands Campus | Loft Covered drive

• Help unload food from those who drive up to the Loft to drop off grocery items.

        Food Drive Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

• 12:30 p.m. - Assist Interfaith with transferring donated food into their truck

A fee of $10.00 per person participating in Serve It Up is requested to help cover the cost of the materials for Serve It Up projects including a 2022-2023 Missions t-shirt.

Community Christian Legal Aid is a faith-based nonprofit who believes everyone should have access to legal assistance regardless of their income.

Create pillowcases for at-risk children in our community.

**No previous sewing skills required. We’ll teach you what to do!

Creative Hands is a TWUMC ministry that makes items such as baby bibs, blankets, pillowcases, toiletry kits and so much more for various ministries that we support.

Deep clean center, organize storage area and prepare craft items for use.

Yardwork and fence building projects

Henry’s Home is a Horse and Human Sanctuary. This all-volunteer led non-profit takes in rescued and surrendered horses, along with other farm animals, and provides therapy opportunities for veterans and first responders. Learn more at henryshomehorsesanctuary.org.

Jubilee Prison Ministry Agape

Color placemats and posters and write letters to incarcerated men and women.

Jubilee Prison Ministry is a cross-denominational Christian program designed to engage incarcerated men and women in a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. Learn more at jubileeprisonministry.org

Agape is love and within Christianity is recognized as the tangible love originating from God. Through Jubilee, Agape becomes visible through the handmade placemats and posters along with letters of encouragement shared with incarcerated men and women.

Provide healthy non-perishable breakfast bags for food insecure senior adults in Montgomery County.

Refugee Ministry Welcome Kit Collection

(Refugee Ministry) – Drop Off at either campus

Purchase supplies for Welcome Kits for refugee families who are rebuilding their lives in the Houston area.

Work on this project at home prior to Serve It Up and drop off completed Home Kit on either September 24 or October 8, 9:00 a.m. – noon.

Many refugees arrive to the United States with next to nothing. Welcome Kits are one small step towards allowing these families to rebuild their lives. Welcome Kits provide them with essentials to help them begin again with hope and honor.

The Woodlands Methodist Church is partnering with Houston Welcomes Refugees who will provide these kits to refugee families. Learn more about Houston Welcomes Refugees at www.houstonwelcomesrefugees.com

Sleep in Heavenly Peace Bed Delivery

(At-Risk Children) – offsite

  • Family Friendly Event (children ages 10 years and older may participate)
  •  Serve time: 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

 Total Number of Volunteers: 20

Deliver and install twin and twin bunk beds for children ages 3 – 17 in Montgomery County. Installed beds will be provided with a complete bedding set.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that believes that no child should sleep on the floor. They are 100% volunteer driven. They build and install beds for children throughout Montgomery County. Learn more at shpbeds.org.

• Arrive 7:45 a.m. at the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Warehouse

• Location: 3765 N. Loop 336 E, Conroe 77301

• Bring gloves and wear closed toe shoes

• Volunteers meet at warehouse and are matched with a team to deliver and build beds
