Senior Adult Ministry

The Senior Adult Ministry program is a vital part of our church, with new and expanding opportunities for involvement.

This growing ministry provides Christ-centered activities addressing the spiritual, social and educational needs of men and women in the “second half of life.” This rapidly growing segment of our church family includes retirees, grandparents, people with adult children, and widows/widowers, all who desire to be productive servants of Christ.

The Senior Adult Ministry program includes classes, special trips, monthly luncheons and programs, studies, and volunteer opportunities.

Sunday School Classes

The Friendship Class

A large class of adults ages 55+ that meets every Sunday in Aldersgate Hall for coffee and fellowship. Curriculum used is both formal series curriculum and informal Bible study from books of notable authors. This class provides fun and fellowship for its members with monthly Game Nights, offering bridge, dominoes, and refreshments.

Lamplighters

This Sunday class meets at 9:30 am in room D207 for ages 55+.

Believers

This class is for all adults. It meets at 9:30 am in Jones Library. A study is delivered in lecture format.

Music

The Goldenaires Choir

This group is comprised of approximately 30 senior adults (age 55+) who love to sing and have fun. They sing at worship services, including the Christmas and Easter services, and at various community events outside the church.

Social

Prime Timers

Members of this group enjoy monthly luncheons held at 11:15 am in Wesley Hall on the first Wednesday of each month. Prior to the luncheon and program, games are enjoyed by those who wish to participate at 9:30 am. Programs are presented with outside speakers who are spiritual, civic, education and cultural leaders from within and outside of our community and church. In addition to the monthly luncheons, Prime Timers regularly offer day trips at minimal costs. Occasionally, overnight trips are planned.

ShepherdCare

ShepherdCare is a ministry to our Senior citizens, who are in local nursing homes and Senior residences. Shepherds check on their "Lambs" three times a month: (1) one personal visit; (2) one phone call and (3) sending a personal greeting card. We also deliver Upper Room monthly devotionals and administer Holy Communion. Finally, we take flowers to shut-ins during the Christmas and Easter seasons.

Please contact Ann Armstrong at 281.419.2666 if you would like this ministry for a friend/family member or if you would like to become a Shepherd.

Sarah Circle

Meets the third Thursday of each month at noon for a luncheon in Jones Library. Our purpose is to develope creative, supportive fellowship. This helps women grow in their knowledge of God and expand missions through participation in the global ministries of the church. No registration required. Just show up!
